I used to watch the BBC news all the time, now its a former shadow of what it used to be.

Bring back Moira Stewart (And the style of reporting at the time) And I would be a lot happier.

I watch / pay attention to the news once per week, unless there is some special development which catches my interest.

I have not bought a newspaper in over 50 years, though I sometimes pick up a free Metro paper for a quick scan.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

It was strongly rumoured that Lord (Charles) Moore was in the running for the next Chairman and that he would bring about the changes necessary. Unfortunately there are now reports he has let it be known he will not "allow (his) name to be put forward". That's a shame, he is qualified and highly respected.

Only news I like now is the bbc from 5-6 am on bbc1 then it’s time to turn off, just can’t watch the presenters or stars as I think they like to think they are. Maybe a short visit to itv to see what pierce is stirring up

Here's a nice humanitarian story (for a change):

You have to search for them on-line these days.

Should be renamed Speculation, not News.
News should report facts, and facts only, not guessing games. An why rush a reporter to a scene, just to speculate there?. They are always looking for the negative aspects just to make a story.
When the Covid briefings were regular, they had Q's asked at the end. Those reporters were awful, asking irrelevant questions (many of which had been previously explained in the briefing, and trying to twist the story into a negative

They've already put a political appointee in charge who is looking to stop any employees voicing anything he doesn't agree with. Sounds dramatic but you can bet he wont act against those speaking out in line with his politics.
Add to that a change to either funding via advertisers - who will have business interests, may be foreign and certainly wont be working class. Or a change to a subscription model which will exclude poorer viewers and again will influence programming. Then say its not covering its costs and privatise it the same as thy have done with everything from British Gas to British Rail, from the The Royal Train to The Royal Mail.
The MSM have whipped this up because they want rid of it and it looks like we're falling for it. Another British institution will be gone and as usual it will be our own fault for letting it happen.

I hadn't realised it was run by people from The Guardian. Who?

I agree. I used to think Robert Peston was a serious journalist up until the point he asked Boris if there was ever a worthwhile reason to go to the pub.

You couldn't make it up.
