I think the red actually suits the blacktulip. A much maligned car, Im biased because my Dad and Granny both drove a variety of Marinas and I grew up with them as a child of the 70s and 80s.
Id dearly love one now. A Mk2 1.8 Estate in Sandglow would bring back a lot of happy memories.

And so be it

I bought "PBB" in 1990 with 11,000 miles on the clock for the princely sum of £500.

The car had been Ziebarted from new, which explaines the black front valance and sills, which not long after purchase I carefully washed off to reveal the pristine metal and paintwork underneath.

It required some recommissioning, the original Goodyear G800 Custom Rib tyres were binned in favour of Grand Prix S, all the brake and clutch cylinders replaced, along with the water pump and alternator.

Pictured alongside an A60 Suntor for rarity !

That A60 Suntor had an East Lothian registration....SSS.

It might have come from George Fowler's garage in North Berwick.

A few years ago, one of those bull nosed Chrysler things that resided in Kirkleatham near Yarm, had the Reg No S55 SSS. Not seen it for a good while now.

My eldest son had the 1.3. Had to tow him back from Derby with the SD1.

My father had a Marina estate as a company car, always remember the great selection of nuts, bolts, washers etc under the mat in the back.

Only thing missing from that is a Sprite Muskateer caravan on the back and I'm transported back to 1983!
