Afternoon Gentlemen,
Well. I saw the title and thought should I or shouldn't and I did and I got what I expected.
Good will all round.
Happy New Year Everyone!

what about Members of the British Empire? (David Coulthard MBE )

But Hamilton does have homes around the world not just Monaco. He pays his US taxes when he is based in his US home at the winter.

I am definitely not a fan of Hamilton, both on and especially off the track. He has accomplished much on the track, and has deserved most of it. He pushes the boundaries of sportsmanship and has been allowed to get away with it - so I cannot blame him for that. The most recent being proven by his comments after coming back from his illness whilst not being 100% - coming back so soon was fear of being shown up by Russell.

But if he chooses not to live in the country, yet is given a knighthood, or other award, then that is the responsibility of those who issue them, not ours to whinge about. One thing to consider though, is in terms of F1, he is considered British, and he does highlight Britain by his achievements, no matter how hard he tries to appear American.

His racial protests are not protests against race, but protests against discrimination against black people (which is both admirable and understandable). He would have my support had he joined the rest of the F1 fraternity once they got their act together, and protested against all discrimination - but then he would have been accused by his influencers of selling out, and that would not have done any good for his 'music' and fashion career.

In other news - excellent that John McGuinness is getting an MBE.
One of the greatest motorcycle racers ever. Lives in Morecambe.

I know F1 can be dangerous but this is on another level.

He has a multi million pound team behind him. Goes round in circles.
Wont work if it is too wet. Does not want anyone crossing the "road", turning right or left or non professional on the "road" at the same time, wants a lot of space each side of the "road" in case he goes off, gets to practice the route time and again and set the car up time and again. Gets paid an awful lot of money.

Paramedic, does not earn in a year what LH gets in a month. Works sun, rain, snow, ice and will drive as fast as they think safe. Deals with all other road users. Does not ask for the kerbs to be low, the walls to be moved back away from the road, does not ask for protection placed to be placed in front of hard objects, does not get to do a practice run. Will try to save the life of whom ever they attend.

Tell me, when your loved one collapses, who ya gonna call?

I just don't think he has gone above and beyond to receive this award.
Who is he racing for? Lets be honest, he is in this for himself. There are many people out there that put in work for the good of others with little or nothing in the way of thanks, "their names you wont even know"

I watched a program about the Oxford team that put together a covid vaccine, I cant tell you one of their names. I bet they put in extra effort but there is no fat pay check, no name in lights.

I can think of more deserving sports people,
Such as Marcus Rashford, he's not a total swell head and has done more for the country than Lewis. I agree he has achieved awful lot but what Marcus did was to benefit others who were struggling to feed their kids.
