I can understand the frustration. I think I will be parting ways with my ZT-T too. I so want to keep it, but it’s just a pig.

I have had mine for about 10 months and it’s been a very niggly car. HG has now failed and thats for the second time in 12 months. I suspect my engine was previously cooked by the previous owner and the MLS has just been thrown in as ‘the permanent fix’.

It spat a driveshaft out not long after I bought it leading to me loosing a day at work and an RAC tow. I’ve also fitted a new turbo amongst various other parts.

My car has various knocks and rattles. A horrible gearbox, a constantly wet and misty windscreen in winter, a useless heater, some electrical gremlins, the sound of sloshing water despite having drained the plenums and double checking they are still clear and dry, the list goes on.

I don’t blame the car. It’s just old and has had several owners. I should have steered clear when I knew the previous owner had been through two engines and countless head gaskets.

It’s definitely been the worst MG-Rover I’ve owned though, sadly.

My MG ZR which I’ve had from new will be the only MG-Rover I will hold onto, going forward for a daily car I’m going to have to look for something more up to date I think.

Heh - I should have been a little more specific, as I was thinking of my other post about powerfold mirrors. People like yourself do 100 times what I do with these exasperating yet lovable machines... but what I meant was that if it's one of the few things I CAN do, I think I go WAY beyond the point of sanity, trying this, filing that, taking this part from this item and adapting it to fit that item, etc etc, where anyone else would have given up and bought a new part.

But even I have my limits... over the weekend, I managed to source a brand new complete powerfold mirror for £90, so {naughty word} it.

But even then... I will fit it to the driver's side, then take the complete motor out of the existing o/s unit, and fit it to the faulty n/s...

Right , the toys are back in the pram.
All fixed with yet another set of drop links as well.
Apart from the cheesy parts I found all the bolts too tight.
The 2 18mm bolts were unbelievably tight , I ended up with 1 foot on the spanner, both hands round the anti roll bar and heave....nearly followed through on that one.
When I had the subframe off I put it all back together with the correct torque so I must be turning into a wimp .
Ended up dropping the sub frame on one side but the bolts were tight as well.
They beat my ryobi gun and I had to get the aldi impact gun out.
First time the ryobi has let me down.
Again they was torqued up but a garage changed the clutch since so I blame gus the gorrilla for that one.

I would also like to thank Lee for his offer of help

Ian , I had mine November 2018 but the problem I have is I still have a blocked artery, but it's at the bottom so they won't touch it and another which is about 70% blocked, again not going to fix it.

Big thanks to everyone who chipped in with words.

Now on to the rear arms

Stan

Best get another set in for next week then, eh

You've recovered from your tantrum better than I do... there would be screwdriver holes in my wings, and the door ripped off its hinges

- and that's just trying to fix a powerfold mirror...

Probably about 3 months.
As for the tantrum, tomorrow's job is finding the spanners that are now residing somewhere at the back of the garage.

Yes, they are Stan, the book value is 150 Nm. The subframe bolts are 115 Nm, less than for a road wheel but not so easy to apply the necessary torque.

Congratulations on your success. I'm grazing my knuckles on my own suspension at the moment so I sympathise.
