No good for fitting your roof bars though.

I have a towbar too but use my roofbars quite regularly & don't think the factory topboxes look half bad. They're also very practical for my wife's antique business along with the fold-down rear seat. A tourer was considered but the saloon is so much prettier. And l have this away being recommissioned along with a factory rebuilt engine going in, which satisfies my Shooting Brake desires.

Nice morris Oxford series vi traveller.
Good cars, I've had a few (saloons and vans) and still have a Morris half ton van - been stored in various garages for about twenty years after I holed a piston, took it off the road and started collecting spares and panels for the restoration! She is still nice and solid where it counts and wears her original paint and sign writing. Last edited by bsafly; 24th March 2021 at 19:45.. Reason: Spelling |

Thanks. We did a six month restoration on mine around fourteen years back then shortly after l started to get some bearing rattle & l put her away for a while that turned into a very long time. I happened to find a factory reconditioned 18V Sherpa engine still in it's crate, which the car was already fitted with & bought it for £350. I had to move out of the garage she was in last year so l sent her up to Steve Turner of the owners club & he's swapped the engines, fitted an MGB 3.9 diff, rebuilt the braking & clutch systems & is currently rebuilding & rebushing the front suspension (rotten springs & pans, corroded tie-rods, a couple of track ends ) & waiting for the rebuilt starter to be returned. Phew! I'm expecting a very nice car when l collect her.
Then l just have to finish the interior off, door panels & carpets & hopefully a Rover P5 full width parcel shelf to replace the manky cardboard original. I had a Oxford Saloon before this (scrapped) & a Riley 4/72 (nicked). Then l decided l was old enough to now like estate cars so went on the hunt for a Farina station wagon as l had got to like the old BMC buses. I even looked at a half-ton SunTor but decided against it. Nice motor though. Original signwriting. Now that's nice.
