where did you get the replacement motor from ?
Cheers Arctic.
All the white clips broke, no issue really as it’s held together by four screws.
Once cover is off there’s a spring washer in middle that needs prising off - done two actuators, one of these clips is somewhere in the car,the other one is somewhere in the garage
Fastest accelerating things known to man!
Just replaced pin and washer with countersunk bolt and nut on reassembly.
One out of car, plus a spare had the motor on the edge (rather than going across at an angle) not working
Prised back the two tabs that hold end of motor on and then carefully removed end containing brushes
Both end caps had a lot of carbon build up and commutators were black
Cleaned commutators with fine wet n dry and cleared gaps in them with point of knife
Cleaned out end caps with wd40 in the case of one and silicone spray with other (just what I had to hand at time)
Bent the brushes slightly so they would make contact better
Reassembled carefully, you can move the brushes with watchmaker screwdriver to get them back onto commutator, then check using 9v battery with a couple of leads attached, wires just prodded into contacts
Just reassembled then, did try other motors with battery and they ran fine.
It’s a bit nervy how you get them apart, case of controlled force / levering

Didn’t touch dogbone

No new parts used, there’s still some life in old ones
There’s a great vid on YouTube that a guy has posted showing free lander repair, looks identical
It was this vid that gave me the bravery to have a go

Green is pin and clip replaced by nut and bolt
Red is pin I drilled out on first one but you don’t actually need to

Red circled bit here is what is removed, undo and remove circled clip
Prise along red line, you have to release the two circled lugs

I decided ,after finding a Sealey headlamp cleaning kit in the cupboard that I bought a couple of years ago, to have a go cleaning the lights on the Connie as it's a nice day and I've finished my chores ! I've always been a bit unsure about whether these kits are really any good but but as you can attach the pads to a drill I gave it a go . I found that the wet and dry pads on the drill didn't really work ,even if lubricated with soapy water so I used them by hand to ' feel' them working before using the sponge pad on the drill to use the polishing paste. I'm well pleased with the results even if the UV protection when applied with it's sponge stinks to high heaven and has left my hands sticky but they look new again !:

I'm so pleased that I went and ordered some ' improved' rear arms for the tourer from DMGR !

A touch of spit and polish, then off to Whitby in Percy my 75.

Beautiful sunny day, Percy sparkling in the sunshine. A walk round Whitby, a bag of chips, a coffee, and a chocolate eclair, then back to sit in Percy for a while watching the world go by.

A lovely afternoon out, Percy his impeccable self as per usual.

I'm one very happy bunny.

Collected her from MGR John, who had replaced the NSF sticking caliper, disc and all front pads. The NSF wheel had been dragging/binding and running very hot. Much improved performance driving home, perhaps most notable was she will now creep at walking pace in first, whereas previously the binding brake would have resulted in a stall.

I am now expecting significantly better fuel consumption figures.

Treated and painted the inner arches and underside,,put the upper arms and anti roll bar on to the subframe, battled to remove the rose joint bush fitted the new one with the aid of a 44mm socket and club hammer.
Fitted the subframe to the car.
Progress at last.

Angry

Getting her ready for her MOT on Sat by removing the HIDs and LEDs from the headlight and replacing with standard bulbs due to the new MOT regs that came into force in March
