Default 05314129435 Scam call

Another call from India - but this time at 08:42 this morning - a bloke came on the line and in very bad, virtually unintelligible English informed me that my internet had been taken over by someone from another country.

I strung him along and he said I needed my Smart Phone and I had to press on an app to allow him to show me how my internet was compromised.

I kept telling him I was pressing on the app but nothing was happening.

He then got very angry and said that I wasn’t following his instructions and that I must do what he says.

He got increasingly upset and then I said that I knew he was a scammer and with that he hung up.

I really enjoyed winding him up! - I kept him “busy” for nearly 7 min.

Excellent way to kick of a Friday

I've had three scam calls this week, the first supposedly about my Amazon Prime subscription (which I don't have anyway) and the other two threatening to disconnect my internet in 24 - 48 hours if I don't press 1 and sort it out. My caller ID showed that both 'internet' scam calls originated from Germany.

This is all too common these days, I've had two more calls since my previous post and now they have started on my wife's phone and our land line as well!

Around the end of last year we had a spate of these, which built up to maybe 8 or 10 a day.

In desperation I started to re-use BT's 1572? call blocking system. We had used this a few years earlier, with limited result.

This time however, it seems to have had a positive effect; we now "only" get about 1 or 2 a week. It did take a good 6 -8 weeks to get where we are at the moment.

Maybe worth a try, for those on BT.

Regards

Mike

Removed my landline about 10 years ago, sick of nuisance calls 😠 Most of them only kick in when you speak, so pick up and say nothing, costs them 😁
Btw, recently had a scam message from Hermes asking for payment for a non delivered item, be careful out there 😎

My wife has been having the Hermes one for the last 3 or 4 days, 2 or 3 times a day . She is getting so concerned she is starting to believe it is real.

Word of warning, a friend of ours had the one where he needed to pay £2.99 for a parcel from the Post Office. He paid it and they emptied his bank account, the bank wont cover it as he was ''stupid''. I have no idea how but it was a considerable amount of money.

I may not be here for a while because I am going to be arrested for not paying my dues to HMRC (according to the caller) and I didn't press "1" when asked!
