No sign of a PM
I will take some more pictures later and will start a new thread charting the
work I do on her.

A nice early VIN 'S reg' as featured on the front cover of Autocar (if anyone's got a copy) VIN 001194 and this pre-dates the club's 'S Reg' S525 OVP, by 2 cars, so officially the earliest example in the club now

Has it got low line nav, I can't see cos the steering wheels in the way
Well condition is 'reasonable' it takes a good photo though it must be said.
Thanks Paul I would love a copy of Autocar should anyone have that one?
I don't quite beat the clubs one on reg. date though. 18th December 1998 (OVP) 22nd December (LJW). No low line Nav though.

She is a real classic. Her credits include Autocar, What Car?, Driven on Channel 4 and I am sure many more.

From the keeper of the current latest example.
She will if she doesn't cost me too much from the owner of the first car

Well done.
Thanks Jeremy, the Crowns aren't that bad however they don't hold a candle to my lovely Serpents.

Anyway, hijack over, back to LJW, Lewis it would be very interesting to see how close the build dates are between these two, with only one other car between them off the production line, it is highly likely they were finished the same day (and you've touched both of them).

Any chance you could take a look at the date on the fuel filter cap under the rear seat squab, or maybe find a date hidden under one of the trim pieces, if you can, then maybe Lates could take a look at OVP too, and see how close they are.

Now I wonder where the missing sibling is VIN 001195 ?
I will have a look this afternoon as she needs a dam good valet!

seriously mate I looked at that window plate last week its definately 1157 chassis number on S392 DEH ???

That car has personaline interior also in neptune blue. The car is a minter with only 22000 miles from brand new built in 1998. Here it is at a St1ng road show two weeks ago. Reebs could this be the oldest now then??? its won't beat Lewis or S525 on reg date as both of them are 1998 registered, but could it beat them on chassis number??

This is the list I compiled a while back to keep track of the early cars, and 001157 is 4th in the list, so yes the earliest I think:

2) S527 OVP VIN 00 1047

3) S902 XDA (1.8 Club) VIN 00 1152

4) The car you found in the Gumtree add VIN 00 1157
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...5&postcount=16

A.K.A Dave Cooper's S Reg

5) S750 LJW Lewis's New Pride & Joy (also on front cover of Autocar VIN 00 1194

6) The Car you found on Piston Heads (now scrap & in my tribute Video) Unkown VIN but see how close the reg is to number 5!

7) S525 OVP (The Club's S Reg) VIN 00 1196

8) T979 UOX - Auto Express New Car 21st July 99 (2 litre Diesel) VIN 00 1255

http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...9&postcount=67

9) S457 AOX VIN 00 1367

10) S473 AOX VIN 00 1384

11) T207 JOP (The 1st 75 I almost bought) VIN 00 1481

12) T78 MOA (Lewis Rabett's Car) VIN 00 1482 (the next number on from the one I almost bought) !!

13) S543 OVP VIN 00 1536

14) T385 JOP (My first 75) VIN 00 1598

i meant the whole point of ovp is it shows "possibly the earliest surviving s plate" well we now know it's not and those others seem to be in better nick?

Very true, however, both cars are unique and important survivors by virtue of their history.

I am just off to the loft as I think I may have a copy of that Autocar issue.

OVP's history is nothing to shout about, it was used as an on site general dogsbody and finally dumped when it needed money spending on it. .

It does beg the question:- Is it worth spending any more money on OVP?? as it's quite possible that another/older car in better condition may well turn up in the future?
...

The thing that makes ovp special is that it's a pre production poverty spec. It would be a shame to let this go as it must be one of the rarest 75s out there. I fully understand what people are saying but it seems all of the other pre production cars are in fact connoisseur spec. So for rarity I think ovp wins hands down.
