Mine was allegedly (there is a receipt for it) changed by the previous owner around 58k IIRC and I changed it again at around 85k. I used the Freelander TD4 version which will hopefully last longer.

Its interesting the wide variation of mileages reported.

From 44k to 175k. I suspect, (but then I'm an old cynic), that the the latter is probably correct, and the others have all been clocked!

A friend has a tourer with full service history and I think only the second owner, and his clutch, slave and master all went at 168k.

Mine has done 135k (full service history, 3 owners), and I'm getting very nervous. The clutch itself is OK, but every so often the pedal feels a bit slack when depressing it.

You're assuming all slaves are 100% with no manufacturing defects, and that they are all used in the same way (driving style etc), those reasons alone can answer why the range varies so much, being clocked is a stretch at best

Slave itself is fine at 88k miles but the thrust bearing is now shot...

17,000 miles. When I bought the car it was making noises when pulling off especially in reverse (a bit like when the thrust bearing has gone) and was found to be the slave leaking? Now at 78,000 I hope it lasts a good while longer (touches wood).

Well going by this the average is about 83k, so as i done 50k on mine, it may only last 34k more (just over 1 year)!
