Ray,
Just checked the pdf with regards what variant/version I have, and now I'm totally confused. According to the V5 my variant is *TH and version 03C. The version 03C appears in the 116ps and 131ps? What am I missing? It is a 2003 diesel tourer Conne SE.
???

Rob, I can tell you a tip though on these 116 and 135 diesel engines, in my experience the 116 gives the car a much longer clutch life & considering the price of these replacements at a MG Rover dealer (£800) its good to have the longlivity mate.

I have two diesels and both are running just fine with 116 engines. In fact the one has done 175000 miles still on the original, and also still does not slip. The other car is on 75000 miles.

So do not always be tempted by power, get tempted by your wallet!

Thanks but i've driven a 113 and it was gutless. I'd rather pay for a new clutch than drive a tortoise lol. A 131 with Synergy is a brilliant car

116 is slow off the mark however on the motorway network theres not much in it. I am not sure what you do and where you drive your car, but as i said the network system suits the 116 very well

I found the 135 pretty gutless, so I fitted a Synergy did the EGR, PCV and etc.. Which have made it not only go, but it feels generally much safer.

So far as clutch wear goes, my driving style means I usually drop the clutch quickly minimising wear. The more torque you have available, the less you need to slip the clutch. I also try to avoid the need to stop completely, where possible - rolling starts are not only get you off the mark quicker, but save fuel and clutch wear.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I think it has already been said, but the Synergy fitted on a 116 beats the Xpart upgrade by a margin. You can also pick your own mix of settings, use the PB MAF if your Bosch MAF fails and over all it is cheaper. You can also move it to your next 75/MG.

It's apparent from a few members paying us a visit that you can't even go by the V5.
Mistakes were made by dealers & DVLA in filling out the original Reg Doc.

For example a recent member had been paying far too much Road Tax for the 4 years for his Manual CDTi. Almost the VED rate for the Auto version!!

We looked at the emissions figure and it was neither Manual (163g/km) or Auto (190g/km) but something like 180g/km which is clearly incorrect.

Thanks for your reply. Any ideas as to how I can establish what variant my diesel is? Would the T4 be able to do this?
Thanks
John
