I don't like taking the V8 out in the Rain or Salt or parking anywhere near lesser cars which might bash my doors in !! So in the garage it stays gathering some harmless dust Used to have a dust cover on it but trouble with Car Covers is you can't admire the beauty, so off it came 3 years back!!

However I do use my V8 everyday with ladders on the roof come rain and shine (I know I'm a heathen) but ............... when I brought her I knew nothing of the cars (V8's) that is. So she has to work and a mighty fine job she makes of it to. Got to be the quickest painter around, and with Zebs rear protecter no probs with the gear inside. I think a car should be used as twas built for, but each to there own, I have now done over 24k since last Jan and S/C fitted and I think a small inprovement on fuel, Although we are only talking single figures. Mind you per mile a BIG improvement

Thought I'd try to avoid driving too much as a classic but has turned out to nice to resist taking for a spin most days. But I didn't use it in the icy weather (second car is a 4x4) - too worried about other drivers slamming into me!

I have really worked the Rover 75 tourer this week, since last saturday its been to Berwick upon tweed there and back 600 MILES return, on Tuesday back up north to Newcastle upon tyne 380 miles, and then today Leeds and back 190 miles and in between my normal offices, which was another 200 miles, 1370 MILES THIS WEEK.
the Week before was in wigan, my Rover 75 tourer does around 30,000 miles a year, The mileage is now 200,000 miles from Brand new still going and never brokedown and still on its original clutch, springs, exhaust, bearings.. fantastic motor, thats why I bought that Rover 75 tourer mark 2 the other weekend with 30,000 miles only from new 2005 54 plater. At this rate my old 2002 02 plater is getting hammered with mileages, However i have noticed it's getting quicker with age and never needs water or oil between service stops...WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST, GREATEST, CLASSIEST ROVER CAR EVER BUILT EVER!

Only problem was it was on a 2 year 60k contract but no-one bothered to tell me that.

hi all, first post for me. I bought my 75 a couple of weeks ago. Its my daily car and I do around 150-200 miles a day in it. Im averaging around 55mpg so not too bad. I bought it because I couldnt afford a Jag x type diesel, but to be honest prefer the 75 now anyway. Good times

The 75 is my only car. It's used most days, I've had it 6 months and covered 9500 miles.
I (have to) use a hire car for 'off base' work journeys. Apart from the first month (which was a nightmare) it has been reliable and pleasing to drive. |

As with all cars they are there to be used and enjoyed, my 73 Triumph Stag gets a good thrashing most weekends come rain or shine, you only live once enjoy what you have.
My last 75 diesel was doing around 6 - 700 miles a week ran brilliantly no probs. Cheers Adrian Last edited by AdyB; 20th April 2012 at 21:11.. |
