Default Dartford Crossing

Hi all,

Heading off back home to Kent next week for a good few days rest, relaxation and to see my brother.

Sadly, will not taking the ZT as towing the caravan, the fuel gauge would move backwards too quick for this particular trip. The mpg on the Mondeo is a lot better for that, and, to be honest, it is not a bad place to be!!!

Not having been down for a good while, and not getting that far South with work anymore, do we still pay for tolls as they were, by throwing your £1, or whatever it is these days into a bin, or is there now a more modern way of doing it??

Obviously wanting to be ready for any extortionate fee they want to charge me, is anybody able to advise me please?

Regards,

Dave.

Check out the website I think you have to pay prior to travel and the toll booths are closed now

I traveled to Dartford yesterday.

You can pay online as Teflon says or over the phone.

£2-50 each way for a car

For something that was due to become free once tolls had paid for the construction of the bridge and tunnel

Good old placid British motorists!

If your car is registered for disability tax you pay nothing, you have 48hrs after passing through to pay before fines kick in, telephone payement is easiest you can pay for return trip at same time, whereabouts in kent are you travelling to?

lol, yes, and it has changed an awful lot since I left in the early 90's. Be honest, that is where my roots are, but I am glad I left and came North!!
(apart from the weather!!!)

Will be at Capel-Le-Ferne, where my brother lives.

Think yourselves lucky you don't have to use the Severn crossings.£6.50 for a car, £13.10 for a van and a whopping £19.80 for a truck. Naturally it is owned by the French (Society des eau) or at least it was.

They changed the law once it was paid for, so it's now a charge, not a toll. How nice of our government

Osbourne has said they need the money to help offset the deficit
