Why do you need this info?

Hi.

I have just logged in for the first time in a while and been told to fill out additional fields in my profile that were previously blank.

One of the fields was my real surname and the other was my postcode.

Why does the OC need this information for non subscribing members?

Are you now doing electoral roll searches or are you starting to steal identities?

I noticed that too.
I signed up a few months ago with no surname etc.

Now that I wanted to update just ONE blank field - the screen is saying I need to fill in all the other BLANK MANDATORY fields now including surname.

Still
Nothing stopping u put down "Batman" for forename and "Robin" for surname - lol

...or is there?

i think that you will find that this is to sort out trolls and trouble makers which seems to be working quite well so far

I wouldn't have thought it was legal to insist on such information for non subscribing members.

Perhaps its to stop banned members rejoining under a different user name,
believe it or not there are still banned members lurking in the shadows under different names.

Who? might you ask,it is known,we won't get fooled again

Perhaps a simple request like "Who are you" would suffice

Not a question of legality. Do you want to join or not? These are the Rules. I do not see a problem for any reasonable person

So the logic is that someone who has been banned decides to rejoin using a different name but then puts their real name and postcode in? That makes no sense.
