A bit of fun
Dear All
I know my Dad always thinks that the more toys you have on a car, the more there is to go wrong, but I am happy with what we have on our 75s/ZTs (and if your individual car didn't get that item, you can usually retro-fit it). So what gadgets/toys do you not have on your 75/ZT that you would like to have? More modern cars have things like lane assist, HUD etc. As some of the electronics on ours cars was inter-changeable with BMWs of the period, are there any toys on BMWs of the early-mid 2000s that you wish you could have on your car? Andrew

Hi Andrew,You mentioned HUD-heads up display,,,My classic car under reads on the speedo,so I use a free 'APP' on my phone which can give a HUD display on my windscreen.
I have retro fitted cruise, auto wipers and webasto heater(and used upside down seat heater switch)+aftermarket reversing sensors,,all sometimes useful. I'm considering rear heated seats at the moment. Ken |

Toys
Hi Ken
Rear heated seats? Not heard of that! Meanwhile... earlier last year I looked at this product - https://www.navdy.com/ I tried a few Android apps for my phone which were supposed to project HUD onto windscreen, but none seemed to really work (maybe the light wasn't bright enough?) Anyway it's always nice to find out what other people have/are doing Andrew

Hud
Probably just over £200 (at pre-order price)
Here's another similar product which has a more up to date hardware spec (I think) https://exploride.com/ That can be the problem with being slow to market with a new product, someone else gets there ahead of you with a similar item which is just that bit better (or keener priced) I'm interested, but not enough to shell out my own hard earned yet (plus how long before the h&s lobby tells us it should be banned because it's too much of a distraction?) I've had these on all my cars though they are known by a variety of names, but I just call them 'eyes'.

To be honest, I've never been left wanting in my current ZT-T - I used to like HiLine, however now I'm content with the Driver's Intelligence Pack and Cruise Control.
Can't see myself wanting much more to be honest.

My Celestial was well specked already with Highline, Harman Kardon and IPK.
So far I have retrofitted: Cruise Control, BMW Widescreen Bordmonitor Becker BM24 Radio Amp/Tuner Auto Dimming Rear-View Mirror Rain Sensing wipers, Heated Seats (currently looking for electric bases) Electric Rear Sunblind I'd like to fit the parking sensors, wiring is there and I have the bumper loom. Just need the cutting tool to do it right BMW built in Bluetooth function of the Highline would be nice, though I need a BM54 amp plus other bits and it involves some wiring. I wish there was a way of utilising the parking sensors for fitment on the front, so they'd work without a need for reverse gear selection. I'd also like to have a FBH on my V6 |
