Default Mitchelin CrossClimate v Dunlop Sport BluResponse

Time for 2 new tyres. I know what the Dunlops are like but not the Mitchelins.

I have the Dunlops on now and am very happy with them: quiet, great grip, comfy ride etc. But they don't seem to last long.
Rating B, A and 68 for economy, grip and noise.

The Mitchelins should work better in the winter.
Rating C, A and 68 for economy, grip and noise.

But I have never had the Michelins before. What do you think?

I have Bluresponse fitted and found them OK but like you they dont seem to do the mileage I would like. about 12K and getting close to the wear blocks.

Michelins always had a good reputation for wear but that was a good few years ago dont know what modern ones are like.

The info on Blackcircle says the Michelins last 5,000 miles more than the competition: and that includes the Dunlops.

http://www.blackcircles.com/popups/m...5000-miles-pop

(I had the Dunlops on a new Merc I had in 2006. I went through 4 sets in 40k miles)

Had CrossClimates on for nearly a year, still plenty of tread and wearing evenly.Only thing is -it didn't snow last Winter for me to try them out.
Good in wet though and very quiet.
They're on 17s by the way.

By coincidence I have it in mind to have a change. 4 continentals have done 14,000 in 3 years. 2 are down to 3mm and 2 are down to 4mm. During the recent wet spell, LJW skidded a couple of times going through a tight turn in the wet, traction control kicked in. I read the reviews about the Michelin lasting longer than the competition, with better grip and low road noise.

I'd be concerned about totally different tread patterns; not to mention compounds... have seen the Michelin tyres mentioned on (both axles) of a couple of London Ambulance Service Skoda Octavia response cars.
