Racking \ Shelving
I am looking for some sturdy shelving to ease my storage problems. I have bought cheap metal shelving in the past but it is too flimsy and I would like something fairly sturdy. This is not a 'money no object' exercise, but buy cheap, buy twice... This time I want quality that will last.
Most second hand industrial shelving seems to be too tall as my max height is 2.8m. I am thinking about something along the lines of https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clar...tless-shelvin/ There seems to be a lot of choice out there, for example:
I'm wary about buying mail order without poking and prodding them first! Can anyone recommend products? If I can, I will have a look at the items before buying. |

This is what we use at work, certainly not the cheapest, but it does go together well and holds together. When we took 1 apart to throw away we had to use a mallet to get it all apart.

I had non-standard wall sizes available in my garage, so I made my own out of low cost decking boards.

I got mine from Makro when it was in the sale (you do have to be a member), cable tied the uprights at the top and an odd screw into the wall and it was perfect.
Dont buy cheap

Thank you to everyone that has replied so far. I will get down to my local Machine Mart and have a look at some Clarke shelving.

I got some dexion from someone local to me on Gumtree,I can cut it to size and bolt it together-like meccanno'.You can use wood shelves, ply is strong but pricey or those chipboard loft planks,,A friend of mine give me some proper metal dexion shelves which won't absorb moisture and bend in the middle.
I can understand you wanting to see it first as some on sale are quite flimsy. Ken. |

THESE popped into my email the other day from Groupon, it seems similar to the Clarke one.
Incidentally, I bought some cheap ones via Homebase, they are lightweight and quite flimsy, but they are not going to be used for anything heavy in the shed. In saying that though, once built and screwed to the bracing of the shed, they do seem reasonably sturdy, worth the £9.99 each lol. Whilst in Homebase, though, they did have some quite sturdy looking ones with chipboard shelving for around £20 a pop.
