Under Bonnet Pump continully running
I've ordered a pierberg UBP to replace my current one, which is continuously running even with the ignition off and key removed. I'm assuming something has gone wrong inside the pump, but just to put my mind at rest is there anything else within the car systems that would make it continuously run?
I'm only asking this because even after I've pulled the electrical connector off the pump to stop it running, there's something that is draining the battery. Thanks Graham |

Hi, why do you think it's the pump?

It's not the pump IMO ....check the relay rather (common with the ITP)

This is what the Haynes manual says about the relay location, however below is what I've found I pulled out the lower left relay, and I'm not sure if you can see in the photo, but there is a coating of diesel all around the lower relays and lower section of the fuse box. Anyone know which of the 4 relays is the fuel pump one? |

Hi, that is the later fuseboard, the manual might be talking about the earlier fuseboard which is a completely different animal. I don't know enough about relays but isn't it marked on the diagram under the lower facia trim panel you've just removed?

I could be wrong buddy but I think the diesel in the fuse box is as a result of the fuel pump running continuously - the fuel naturally tracks down the bulkhead and into the car via the fuse box
Which would mean the relay is in fact at fault-sorry I've no idea which one it is Suffice to say when you replace the faulty relay normal service will be resumed Regards Chris |

Yeah its a facelift model and there's no diagram to be found anywhere. The haynes manual only show pre=facelift wiring diagrams
