All a bit strange 😞
Funeral of my other half's father today ( he didn't have the virus)
All a bit strange and very different to what you would normally expect. Seemed like a matter of seconds before he was wheeled in to the crematorium without much chance to say goodbye properly but with things the way they are that's what it's got to be. Fortunately for me I didn't know him too well, goodness knows how closer relatives feel. Russ

It's a very strange way people are being denied that chance to say good bye, but more the chance to show the celebration of that person, their life and their influence. Our memories are the true treasures which nothing can take away. I hope that your wife and you all find those moments to laugh and smile.

Definitely strange times, if you have five mins, take a look at the mass graves in Brazil and how they are dealing with funerals.
Very sad indeed.

Sorry to hear this Russ, I was just thinking it was about time I gave you a call and then read this.
Please give my condolences to Liz, you're both in my thoughts. Bob |

Thing are very strange at the moment.
We buried our Aunt on Thursday and have not even got the death certificate, which I thought you had to have one before a burial. She was riddled with cancer, and in hospital 9 weeks ago was going to have a biopsy, but they decided it was a waste of time as it had spread aggressively. For me tho the really sad bit was , on her notes it said 'do not resuscitate ' which was not what she wanted because we had talked about this the day before. I was always under the impression that the NHS was to try and save lives even if they are really poorly, but guess that's not the case.... |

We buried Simon on Thursday and were **lucky **! that our graveyard had JUST reopened the chapel.Simon still only had 20 min service instead of 40 mins .due to restrictions and 10 mourners and we had 10 mins at his grave
If the chapel hadnt opened it would of just been 10 mins at Simons grave. There were no limos .everyone in their own cars .but he was able to have flowers. A few people that knew Simon followed us as far as the cemetery and then drove past the gates.but they said goodbye in their own way. so a small service .no limos no wake.feels like Simon was shortchanged. but he got better than a lot of places

If the cause of death was unknown, sudden or unexplained as in Simons case it will have been reported direct to the coroner. The coroner will give you the documents you need for the funeral or they’ll send them direct to the registrar who'll register the death and issue the appropriate forms. If you haven’t had a death certificate I would contact the registrar for advice as they can provide copies which you or whoever is the executor will need to notify banks, pension providers and dept of work and pensions etc, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks Nobby.
The thing is, when she went down for the biopsy we did not know then the cancer had spread so much, the plan was to take a biopsy just off her liver .... She was 80 years old, but only went into hospital because of a lump she felt and a change in skin colour, yellowish, apart from that she seemed fine. It just shocked me to read the 'do not resuscitate bit. |

I conducted my father’s funeral ten years ago, full service at the funeral parlour but when I’d to do mother’s last month it was totally different. There was no service, just straight to the graveyard and a few words after she was lowered down, all very strange but it’s just how it is at the moment
