There are very reputable traders on here with a well-tested and specialised CDT/CDTi remap at 160bhp with 350Nm at £160. Who you gonna call...
It's well worth doing a few other "performance"/maintenance mods while you're at it. The likes of replacing the intercooler o-rings (Vitron) , cleaning the EGR valve, replacing the PCV and giving the air inlet manifold a good clean. Cheers Mats Last edited by Mats; 16th July 2020 at 17:41.. |

Stage 1 in a remap, I cannot envisage how that would be defined, as proper mapping (custom mapping) would be determined by the operator, who would live tweak the map for certain requirements. Perhaps stage 1, is a compromise between power and economy, with a stage 2 being power at the expense of economy etc ........ I have searched over the years, but can never find an answer.

As far as stage 1, stage 2 etc maps are concerned my understanding was that a stage 1 map was pretty much as far as the car can go without modification. A stage 2 map would need the car to have minor modification such as different air intakes, exhaust, possibly more and moving up to a stage 3 would require new fuel injection system, clutch and brakes, bigger turbo etc. A stage 3 mapped car would be awful in the real world. Great for drag races and rally cars but not for a commute. People lie a lot when it comes to modifications of cars. The terms stage 1 etc map is thrown about a lot with little understanding. Many years ago (1978 ish) I had a Mk2 Cortina GT that was upped to stage 2, it included a stage 2 Piper cam and twin 45 Weber carbs, what it means exactly I don't know.
It did mean I was changing rear tyres at an alarming rate, and fuel was affordable then. If I was to have my ZT mapped it would definitely be done by one of the specialists on here. Last edited by Vossy; 18th July 2020 at 10:35.. Reason: Can't spell for toffee |
