Best way to fix my spare key?
I have the blade, the pcb and transponder, but the case is trash. Is there a fob available that I can slot the blade in without too much agro? I have one new case but the slot for the blade is too big.
Thanks, Drew. Last edited by Drewski; 8th September 2020 at 16:36.. |

I've bought quite a few from this place, not the most responsive but they arrive in due course and fit well. Link: http://carkeyfob.co.uk/index.php?rou...product_id=423
Regards ps You've got to keep the plastic bit that fits on top of the blade, with roll pin, and transfer that to the new case, perhaps that's why you say the slot is too big(?). Last edited by vitesse; 8th September 2020 at 17:53.. Reason: More info |

The blade has come out and left its surround in the case. Looks like I need a complete new key

or get a Stanley knife and cut away the softer plastic casing until you get to the old blade holder (harder plastic). Clean it up and shove some stiff wire through the hole which holds the blade, and a bit of glue to seal it. I've had similar problems when the blade has been superglued in place, just take your time. If you're careful it is possible to knock the roll pin out of the old blade, and out of the plastic housing on the new blade and just swap the blades - although some of the pattern cases now have a blade that 'steps in' by the roll pin, the plastic housing is made for a narrower key blade - So this may not be possible depending on your new case

Yes, l also used the above key as both my blocks had been glued in. A simple matter to swap the roll-pins into the new blocks.

Blade swapped over, (thanks for that), but now the remote won't work once the cover is snapped on.....works fine with the cover off, cover on, no go, buttons won't press. Had to put it away for a while, was driving me nuts.

Some shells are better than others. If the red light is on when the casing is snapped together then the inner prong of the button is too long and needs shortening. If the opposite, and it's not activating try a bit of padding.
And make sure the board is held in place by the plastic internal clips. Just for the record I've never used the shells I linked to, rather I linked to the site for the blade holder. Regards |
