What’s it worth?
Hi,
I will be looking to sell my 2005 Rover 75 Connoisseur 1.8 Turbo manual soon. It’s a royal blue saloon with 37k miles. 7 months MOT. Just had the head gasket and cam belt done with a service but sadly no service history. It is in good condition inside and out. What would be the rough guide on price? Thanks. |

Short answer, whatever anyone is prepared to pay for it. These cars are like 300 quid up to 3-4k V8's much dearer. Dealer would probably offer 1k against a more expensive car, an enthusiast may offer 2k plus. It's the piece of string thing really, aim high and be prepared to compromise.

I was offered £350 for a similar car by a dealer three years ago. It sold on Ebay for four times that. Very difficult to value as low mileage on a car approaching twenty years old means nothing. My low miles 20 year old car needed the jacking points welding, front suspension and rear arms replacing, along with VIS motors, new radiator fan and various electrical replacements, more due to lack of use rather than wear! All now done and I have a lovely classic, comfortable car which is admired and complimented wherever I go! ( I do get the odd head gasket questions from some ill informed individuals!).

My philosophy is "the second highest bid on Ebay". I got mine from Ebay for £2000 but, as somebody else was prepared to pay £1950 for it, that's a reasonable assessment of its value.
Or the £545 that webuyanycar.com reckon

Values of decent, low mileage cars are firming up as the cars become rarer and more sought after (relatively) so there's reasonable value in your Conny. Sadly the market favours V6s and diesels over 1.8s but I don't think you'll have trouble selling. I'd hope you could achieve £2k+.
