Default Outdoor Christmas lights.

I think people's displays of outdoor Christmas lights and features have this year been the best I have ever seen. Some of them absolutely spectacular.I include in that those of businesses and local councils.Perhaps it's understandable that there was a need for some urgent Christmas cheer,I know they certainly lifted my spirits.I'm hoping there is no rush to take them down, after all January and February are particularly cold, dark and gloomy months.Leave them up to the beginning of March I say

Theres certainly been far more houses decorated around here than previous years. We were the 1st to put ours up, 1st set went up early November, but that was due to it being our first Christmas in this house, so I had to drill all the holes for the fixings etc.

As for leaving them up, some people here still have theirs up and switched on each day, but we've not bothered the last 2 days, and they'll be coming down tomorrow. Tree and interior decorations came down today.

I've not been out after dark for at least a couple of months, so couldn't say if the overall light display was more or less.

We too have moved house and I did notice that only one of our 13 neighbours in the mews development of barn conversions had put up any exterior lights. There again as there are something like 40 matching coachlamps on the walls of the barns it looks quite magical every evening anyway. One set of neighbours, in a bungalow opposite put up a good display but otherwise I didn't notice anything else.

Traditionally we keep our lights up 'til my birthday on Epiphany.
