Going to be awfully expensive I’d imagine

Maybe they should open a cheaper range to target more markets which still offers the quality...with a Rover badge on 😏

TATA who own Jaguar also own the Rover marque remember.

Can you imagine what this is going to do to the residuals for the current Landrover ICE owners and dealers stocks. No one is going to rush out and purchase a new Range rover now are they after this? Mind it might make for a cheap motor if everyone rushes to buy into the greenwashing dream.

So Jaguar are to cease ‘volume’ production and become a niche boutique electric car manufacturer competing in the Rolls Royce / Bentley price bracket. A sad end for the marque in my opinion not to mention the thousands of job losses from the company that this strategy will cause. Not quite what Sir William Lyons would have wanted I imagine. Still their current range / output will be instant modern classics now.

Come back in 10 years time. Doubt that Jaguar will still be around. Just a prediction.

Strangely id does not mention Land Rover or Range Rover diesels just Jaguar, so may be RR will keep making Diesel ... and remember new diesels from 2030 there will be millions on the road used after that date

I really believe that EV technology is moving too fast for its own good and falsely pushing the agenda will be to the economies detriment. Remember black Monday? It’s the market that dictates not the government which is being influenced by the green taliban extreme this and extreme that. Why not just let the market dictate the change, eventually hydrocarbon will be in short supply and the economics of it will push us to alternatives. You’ll no sooner have purchased your new £50k EV green wheels and it will be superseded by a new more expensive technology. So much for being green eh? Of course all this hot air being pushed by JLR, lots of oil companies too and HMG is very much related to the green love fest in Scotland this year when they all fly in on their private jets and try to outdo one another with their green sound bites. Oil & Gas will still be the mainstay of our economies for many years to come it touches every aspect of our lives mostly for better IMO. Unless we want to back to being Neanderthal again?

Diesels are being phased out too, "Sister brand Land Rover will get six new full-electric models in the next five years with the aim of making 60 percent of its sales zero emissions vehicles by 2030. The first battery-powered Land Rover will be launched in 2024." https://todaynewspost.com/auto-news/...lectric-brand/

How will this work when you want to explore remote areas? As much as I agree EV have a place I feel we should look at the bigger picture. Vehicles used for long distances regularly should stay with ICE power and electric for local or short journeys.
