Bootlid plinth bolts

Hi,

Has anyone any spare T slot bolts (2 needed) for the inner fixings of the bootlid plinth? I believe these are M4 x 25mm and don't seem to exist brand new in that size. Unless anyone knows where to find these new?

I was told these were rusted in, so the ends with the nuts were sliced off with a small grinder.

Hi Paul, I think I know what you're referring to and maybe a way round it. When I did my HowTo on repairing the numberplate lights, I mentioned that the plastic pin fixings on the outer ends of the plinth snapped off. The plastic brackets for the steel bolts also snapped, so I took a good look at it all. The inner pair of fasteners are, I think, what you require. Here's some photos:

Here's one of the brackets I fixed using epoxy resin.

If you're into DIY and have the appropriate tools, a functional head could be produced quite easily by cutting/grinding down an M4 hex headed bolt. Alternatively, a surf through eBay found these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M4-Ultra-...UAAOSwLNhgFdMi

Maybe a bit thin, but the head is similar and might work OK

Thanks, my problem is not the outer plastic prongs, which have a thread cut of them with the starnut, but the inner two metal bolts.

Confused now. I measured the inner bolts supplied with a recent plinth that was sent to me as a replacement (but unfortunately a MK1). Those bolts were M4. Rimmers sell the nuts only and these are listed as M6.

The Rimmer listing https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001794 looks like the Mk1 only parts. The Mk2 definitely has the plastic pins with self-cutting 'nuts/screwits' in the outermost positions. The metal nuts and bolts are innermost. My first photo above shows them clearly. I'll see if I can confirm the size as M4, they look bigger in the photos.

Yes, they're M5 definitely.
For something similar, search ebay for 'M5 wafer head bolts'.
There are lots of options that should work by making a flat on one side.
Locate it in the holding bracket with a glob of silicone, mastic, chewing gum, etc.
