Number Plate Auction
Just having a glance at some upcoming numberplate auctions on the DVLA.
75 ROV starting price of £1200 coming soon. Unfortunately I have better things to spend my money on at the moment to get the car mechanically sound or I would be tempted. |

My bet is that it will fetch a lot more than that, in the region of £3k.

Number plates
I have had a cherished plate for the last 30 years on my cars and was wondering what it might be worth now. The no is OO 9961 and at the moment is held as a cherished no. which I can sell or put on a car.
I may be selling my 75 this year so have reserved the no to put it on my next purchase. I know this will only be worth what some one is prepared to pay for it so what is it worth? I think it was issued in the 60, Cheers. |

I think you will find that it is much earlier, 1920's or 30's.
OO can be looked up in old AA publications, or similar; which will tell you the issuing council. I happen to know that OW was Southampton, because I once had OW 8492 on a 1935 Ariel 500cc outfit (bike and sidecar) There was an anomaly in the early / mid '60's, when some councils (mistakenly?) issued a single letter and 4 numerals, D 1234 for example. Although they were an anomaly, they remained in circulation.

How much? It was £26k a couple of weeks ago! I've missed out on a profit!

Having just remembered the car because of this thread, I thought I would check if it is still around - according to Gov.com it's on SORN at the moment, so should still survive. (Mind you the recent MOT history is chequered to say the least). |
