Sorry guys but things have not worked out with the car (my fault) so I have decided to scrap it.. and save any fights on line... It was a great effort by all concerned so once again I'm sorry

I will not make any further comments about the car on the forum but please PM me if you offered to put up cash and I'll have a private chat with you about it.
Cheers Ian
Sad news indeed, Ian but not a decision I know you would have made lightly...

Unfortunately these cars aren't getting any younger and we are faced more and more with the dilemma of having to let go of them.

Default Sad Day

As you all know that Ian's gallant effort to find a home for "Poppy" hit a few problems. Well today was the cut off time that "Poppy" could stay on site. Ian's new bosses were not prepared to turn a blind eye to her being here anymore.

Both Ian and I made a few phone calls trying to find a buyer. And we found one who was coming today to collect the car.

But he failed to come and gave no reason for not coming.

So the sad news is that "Poppy" has now gone to that large car park in the sky.
What made it worse was the driver placing the chains through the interior. Ended up with the roof being severely distorted. Ian and the driver sorted out the paperwork and we bade "Poppy" goodbye.

What a total waste of one of only two Solar Red Rover 75s built.

Despite the efforts of various club members to save this car.

I am not usually one for the 'save it' brigade, and see no problem with cars meeting their maker....

But.

What went wrong here?

I think it was the case of the space where the car was parked was no longer available and no one else came forwards with somewhere to put it so unfortunately the nasty man took the car to the car away

Knowing Ian there is no way he would of scrapped the car without a good reason.

Whether he feels he has to share that is up to him.
