Mike, when you say "that's what I did", exactly what did you do?

I fear that the stataments in some of the posts above are based on the assumption of a three-box set-up. These being the cat, the middle box and the rear box with intermediate pipes.

I thought the CDT only had a two-box arrangement - the cat and the rest. So, when a garage says the whole exhaust, unless they say including teh cat, they are most likely to mean the rear box and the pipe up to the cat. This comes as one piece.

So, to fit a "whole exhaust", one would need to make the cut after the cat and then fit the new "whole exhaust system".

Would anyone care to cnfirm whether I am right or wrong?

Otherwise I will need to take a look tomorrow to confirm.

I just did the back box on my Diesel by chopping the pipe and adding an after-market back box. Not too difficult, but watch out for the pipe diameter ... The one I bought had the connector pipe (the bigger bit) the same diameter as the cut off pipe so I had to fit another tube to clamp to.

5 hours to change the bushes???
I did mine on axle stands in around 2 hours which included reaming out a crossed thread ... Doh!

The latter appears to me to be a single piece system despite being aftermarket.

If the garage had said it needed a complete system including cat then the outcry would be justified.

I don't think it reasonable to use words like "most". The question is whether anyone manufactures just the back box specifically for the CDT. I woulld like positive confirmation for my own benefit if anyone is in a position to provide this.

In any case, the OP's question was whether the price was fair.

Try these Maninder, not too far from you I think? I contacted them with a view to getting the exhaust on my 1.8T done before I sold it in the summer. They were quite competitive on price if my memory serves me correctly.
