I use Dartsave. They pay the Dartford crossing FOR you every time you cross then Email you and give you 21 days to pay them back.

Went over it last year for the first time since about 2004 and did t realise the toll booths had gone.

Chatting away, missed the signs and only realised I'd drive. Over without paying two days later in conversation with someone else.

Even though I was outside the time, I managed to pay and avoid the fine.

Won't do that again.

Lol, naugty word !

Bit sensitive, but OK won't do it again
I did the same the last ime I used it. Except I carried on over to France for a couple of months! Fortunately disabled registered vehicles are exempt so no charge.

I have a dart account and use their app, only costs 1.67 each way. I top it up as and when i need it and I have four cars on it. It's very simple.

I've worked down that end of London, mind you I worked up at Perry Barr and Heartlands as well.

When planning journeys these days it often depends on when you are going as to which is the best route. Different parts of the M25 load up depending on the day and time of day.

Default Dartford Crossing

The new system is excellent, they have got rid of the cause of the mega jams (though you will never get away from the weight of traffic induced slow driving).

This automated billing system (Dart Charge) is so easy. Open an account, put all of the families cars on it (if you love 'em that much) drive across to your hearts content.

The system will debit your account, and automatically top it up from your bank account (in the amounts you authorised previously at set up). Just check the monthly account they send you to check no one has cloned your car!

Simples!

I wonder how many of our non-UK registered friends vehicles actually pay.

I can see another price hike soon, due to non payment by foreign vehicles .......

If you set up an account I suggest that you check it after each crossing. I was charged twice on one crossing, first one timed at 10:23 and the second at 10:24. When I rang up to say there was a system error their response was that I had to prove I did not go through twice.

My reply was along the lines of Oh yes I remember now - I stopped in the middle of the M25 and reversed a 100 yards just to get my picture taken again!! Unfortunately they thought I was being serious!

After demanding to speak to someone in charge (whoever answers the phones are not authorised to use common sense or issue refunds) I eventually got a credit but it was a struggle.
