Drummers Logic
So ... We had a Festival gig at the weekend.
The drummer had abandoned his VW Golf in France because his Engine Management light had come on. After retrieving it (without finding out what the problem is), he decided to part ex it at a Ford dealer for a brand new Ford Focus. This is costing him £200 per month and after three years (if he sticks to 10,000 miles a year and has no bumps or scrapes) he can get a new car and carry on paying monthly. I pointed out that my lovely Rover 75 was £600 five years ago, holds more stuff, has more toys than his new one and has character! At that moment one of the sound techs came into the tent and said "Who'se is the Rover 75?" He then started gushing about it, shook my hand and left saying great car! Drummer: "Trust you to find a car enthusiast" Me: "Yeah, but no-one is gonna come up to you and say what a great car your Ford Focus is"

I had a nice reaction the other day too. Took my car to get the stainless exhaust fitted and one of the mechanics kids was there. I'd say he was about 12. He was walking across the yard as I pulled up and he just stopped and stared. Later when I picked her up he was on the workshop and he kept telling me how great he thought the ZT was. From someone so young I found it a very proud moment!

How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?
One to fit the bulb. One to hold the ladder. And twelve to tell you how much better Neil Peart would have done it.

It is great to get a comment, as said, from youngsters it is a bonus.
A friends daughter got into one of my Tourers in the past and asked if it was a Rolls Royce, I said, "No, it's better than that, it's a Rover 75!" |

I think you will find that many would. In fact, I would. The Focus is a really nice car to drive, as are the Astra and the Megane. I also happen to think that they all look rather nice and are very well put together. In any case, paying compliments says more about the giver than the subject. |

Takes the same number of folk singers too - one to change the light bulb, one to hold the ladder and twelve of them to sing about how good the old bulb was.

I can second that, with experience. I had a R-R Silver Shadow, in excellent condition, for 5 years from 1990. Serial no. SRH26467, you remember those cars by the chassis rather than the regno, it was towards the last of the production run before the '2' emerged. I searched far and wide to find the right one and wasn't disappointed. Wonderful quality and build with comfort a priority, a joy to drive. Don't know where it is now but I can confirm that I prefer my 75 in every respect. That's not knocking R-R, but it is in praise of the Rover 75 in terms of design, performance and presence.
