Default PDC Sounder

Hi, I'm retro fitting PDC to a 05/2002 built 75 Saloon Club SE Mk1 registered 03/2003. I've test connected the black ecu, loom and sensors in the boot and I get sound from the IPK when I put the car in reverse. I've also removed the parcel shelf and there is no PDC sounder or connector for the sounder.
Am I just lucky that the IPK will handle all the sound or do I need to add wiring for the parcel shelf sounder.
Thanks, MikeH.

Hi All, I've now spliced into the LG/R and R/LG wires to the PDC ECU and connected the PDC speaker.
With just the PDC ECU connected and selecting reverse I get 2 beeps from the IPK.
With both the PDC ECU and PDC speaker connected and selecting reverse I get a five second beep from the PDC speaker. That proves the PDC speaker is working.
With the PDC ECU, loom and sensors loom connected and selecting reverse I get no sounds.
With the PDC ECU, PDC speaker, loom and loom sensors connected and selecting reverse I get no sounds.
All 4 sensors are ticking as and when connected.
I've carried out continuity tests on all connectors/connections and all are ok.
Does this now point to a problem with the PDC ECU?
Thanks MikeH.

If you had the sound coming from the ipk then you didn't need the sounder on the parcel shelf.

Hi Ched, thanks for yor reply.
I do get some sounds from the IPK but when the PDC ECU is plugged in only and its not the five second continuous sound it should be when the looms aren't connected.
My IPK starts YAC11 which I'm told doesn't support the PDC.
I must be half way there as I'm getting the correct 5 second error sound from the PDC speaker when only the ECU and PDC speaker are connected but no sound when both looms are connected.
Thanks MikeH.

If your sounder comes from the IPK you should have the later white parking ECU in the car - the black ECU is for earlier cars when the sounder was separate under the parcel shelf.

The black plug that connects to the PDC ECU only has 5 wires and there was no loom preinstalled for the PDC speaker. Is that another indicator that I need the later (white) PDC ECU.
