Why?????
I bought a high mileage Connie Tourer Diesel Automatic.
The steering wheel looked old and tired and had a sewn on steering wheel cover making it very chunky. I decided to retrofit cruise control, but wanted to buy a nice original wooden wheel (thinking that the leather must be totally wrecked under the steering wheel cover). After removing the cover I found this Nice result ... Mint condition ... but why the hell would you cover that up? |

Could be the previous owner didn't like the feel or look of the wooden wheel.

My dad used to fit seat covers on his new cars and remove them when he sold them. My granny had covers on her new sofa! I suppose in the "old days", folks used to try to keep things as "new" as possible, for as long as possible because money (spending power) was not as often available.

My good lady said that she found them a bit "slippy" on the wood?
