£474 to pass MOT...ouch!
Both front bushes and new exhaust. Is it a fair price?

I've no idea yet, I know it's a full exhaust.
I'm assuming a lot of the cost will be labour.

Which bushes? if its the full front lower arm then fair enough.
Personally i'd rather go to a place that makes Stainless exhausts and get a full system made. Round my way a full stainless system can be had for around £350ish

Well if it's just a standard aftermarket exhaust & 2x rear wishbone bushes
Then yes there labour is extortion |

It's the front bushes.

It's a 2.0CDT and I'm told it needs a complete exhaust as it can't be replaced in parts.

It depends on whether the price was agreed before the work was authorised. If so, then there is only one answer - yes.
If the price paid was within the range provided as an estimate, before the work was authorised, then the answer is also yes. If the work was authorised without agreeing the work or the price, then the only reasonable position would be that yes, it is fair. I would expect to pay around £250 for a fully fitted exhaust on the CDT. The remaining £224 is not extortionate for the front wishbone rear bushes. It is at the top end of what I would be willing to pay for the job. I would have expected around £160 from a reasonably priced independent. |

Rubbish
Absolute rubbish that you have to replace the whole exhaust as it is one part. You only need to replace the faulty part. Most aftermarket exhausts come in three parts anyway.
For instance..new back box. You buy the correct bit, measure (carefully) then cut and simply joined. Chris |
