Default Advice on Retro fitting rain sensing wipers

I have purchased a wiring harness for rain sensing wipers.
what a/effect will fitting rain sensing wipers have on the existing intermittent wipe, variable speed intermittent wipe and the wipers stopping when I stop "in a traffic jam"

thanks

only difference will be the intermittent wipe will be the sensitivity of the auto sensor al other aspects stay the same

as I understand

sorry I don't think I understood, what about the intermittent wipe, what happens to that?

You lose the variably timed intermittent wipe.

You need a rain sensing windscreen, and a change of ZCS coding to make it work.

Wipers stopping when stationary is a dealer option "intelligent wipe" and isn't affected either way

Brian, thank you. The rain sensing windscreen has an extra black area around the mirror fixing and sensor, is that the only difference? What does the area do? I assume fitting rain sensing wipers to an ordinary windscreen means rain sensing wont work, is that right?
If that's the case, I've wasted my money

Don't think so, the black area just hides the ugly wiring. As long as the sensor can 'see' through the windscreen, it should work fine.

i fitted mine to a normal windscreen,of course you could see the wires from outside, but i have seen somebody cut some window tint material to shape, and i used one of these to stick the box to screen http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-75-9...item1a2578e0f9

I put in a auto dimming mirror and rain sensors, not really that difficult. Only problem was the removal of the "built into the windscreen" rain sensor lens and shroud. I used a cheese wire as a cutter and a 1mm adhesive rubber sheet as the shroud.

I was actually quite surprised when Phil set it on the T4 and it worked

I realise I have all but wasted my money, I forgot to get the bit that's on the screen. Don't tell my wife, this was half a day of her holiday spent going to a scrap yard.
Will need to get the missing item from another car some day.

took ages to work out how to remove the unit from the screen, stumbled on it by accident. There is a "clip" at each end that pulls out towards drivers and passengers door. Easy with them out
