Default Hire car or risk the ZT?

Look I know the answer but love driving the ZT

Only owned her a week, not T4'd her yet- and the new cam kit and service kit are still sitting in the boot- to be honest apart from a wash she hasn't been touched.

Now the wifes away next week with the kids at the mother in laws- the week after she is away working, on both occasions taking the reasonably priced car- so I have no way of getting the ZT to the garage that's going to do the Cam belts etc for me..( well I can get there but not myself back- I really cant do public transport)

The weekend after that is the May bank holiday and I have to be in Peterborough all three days- also it is expected that I will have funeral either before or just after the weekend to go to in London which will entail me travelling to my sisters in Gosport before and after

From Teesside its a long round trip in a car that the cam belt history isn't known- the company pays 45ppm in a hire car I can just make a profit on that, in the ZT? if I can keep off the right foot maybe.

I know the answer just hire a damn hire car and don't take the risk- but an Insignia or i40 just don't have the same buzz driving... oooh the temptation to take the chance

Where's the garage ? If it's local, and any day next week except Tuesday, I may be able to give you a run home ?

Its the other side of Houghton le Spring- so a fair way away. I don't know yet when it can go in as haven't tried to book it yet.

Very kind offer thank you but sensibly I should wait until the wifes back from her travels before I arrange to get her done...

Can't you look at the cambelt for signs of cracking etc?

Hi Chaps,
The cars booked in with Dave for dropping off on the 2nd May - I am hoping the wife will be able to follow me up in the reasonably priced car, but if she is away I may be on the scrounge for a lift.

And I left the Aux Belt with Dave this morning for you, as mine is currently in with Dave getting my belts done
