Default Handbrake shoe retaining fixings

I vaguely recall many moons ago, someone mentioning replacing the standard handbrake shoe retainer fixing thingies with long small diameter bolts, penny washers and nyloc nuts ( for when the existing backplate holes had become enlarged rendering the standard ones no good ). I can't find the original post so I was wondering/hoping someone could advise the size of long bolts I'd need to get.
TIA

There is nothing crucial about the nut and bolt, it is just intended to hold the shoes close to the backplate to prevent them lifting and jamming during removal of the drum. The nyloc nut should not be tightened up so as to clamp the shoe against the back plate, because the shoe must be free to slide against the back plate. A nyloc allows for the bolt being loose, without the nut falling off in service. I would guess at a 5mm bolt around 30mm long, would be what you need.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Have a look at the little sets of nuts and bolts etc that they sell in poundland as they are about the right size, send to recall using those and a set I got from homebase.

there is also a suggestion to use longer pins and fit hold down washers such as these

I did a quick one, epoxy glued the nut at the back of it to stop it undoing.
