Do you remember back in the old days when the TV test card came on late at night when programmes finished and you got the tone with it......
Well that is the noise I am getting when I drive my car ,think its coming from the automatic gearbox, as it goes up and down with the road speed.....
Or might I be lucky and it could be something else?

Just took car for test drive, couldn't hearing anything although I went through auto gearbox but still quiet....

Sounds like a feedback tone coming through the stereo.

mmmmm, good idea ..... got a 40 mile round trip tomorrow, keep radio off one way not the other see what happens.

Done my 40 mile round trip today and no noise whatsoever..... but getting two new tyres fitted soon, so will get both front bearings checked and replaced if necessary........................

Also it has been known for the ac fan to do the same.
Switch things on and off see what happens.

I had noticed when I turn A/C on, it can be bit noisy, but don't think it's that....

Hmmm I had a similar problem, it was driving me crazy as I knew I'd heard that tone before. It was a cardboard coffee cup stuck between the door and the seat position selector button

Switch the heater fan between high and lower speeds.... do is the sound change??
