Default Car wont start after running down hill without engine on

Guys, needing a bit of help,

Here is the story

I just came out of my local shop and into the car. Belted up then took the handbrake off as I went to start the car but miss judged it and the car started to roll. The car then wouldn't start.

when I put the key into the first few clicks I can hear the door locks functioning open and then when I go to the last click the car just clicks repeatedly 10 times.

Also noted that the pumps come on and so does the A/C but the radio won't function.

I think this is something to do with an anti theft device but I have no idea how to fix it.

Now the car is stuck without being able to start.

I have a clean and clear plenum and a dry ECU
I recently replaced the starter motor solenoids

I have removed the leads from the battery and will wait half an hour for the car to re-set.

Any ideas on other causes and solutions to my idiocy?

Garry

How you getting on? did the battery off reset do the trick or is the battery too flat to start the car? Make sure the battery terminals are tight, if so and won't start then suspect flat battery - 12hr minimum on a decent charger in that case. I would have suggested the starter solenoid but you say you've already done it - might be worth checking the cable is still secure at the starter motor though.

Now then, handbrake off and start engine? No idea who taught you that except the old style race starts! Were you really in that much of a rush? Acting like that would almost be enough to fail a driving test. Should be check handbrake on, check gear Neutral: start engine.

Battery reset didn't do the trick.

Neither did any of the posted key resets (if it were the immobilizer)

I recon that the battery is just short of charge. Hot day today so had the A/C on all day and had two phones charging from the car, albeit with the motor running all the time.

Double checked the leads to the battery and to the starter motor.

Replacing the battery tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed that's the issue.

I know, a moment of stupidity in a hurry. Silly boy. Only myself to blame.

Battery replaced and car running well now.

I have extensive records from the previous owner and cannot see any replacement battery so I think that the battery was the original. It's a 2005 model.

Just goes to show how these cars are made of the right stuff.

The car seems to be running a little better now actually.

Happy days as the car was parked outside the front (after coasting down the hill) where it's not allowed to be during the week so I could have had to pay to get it moved to the back, to get to the back requires running all the way down the hill, round the roundabout then back up the 12 degree slope followed by a 30 degree slope into the back of the house.

Anyway, thank you for the support and thanks to this site in general for being a good resource.

check the output voltage from your alternator... you want about 13.5v to run the car and give a good charge...
if it is starting to fail this could be a warning sign...

Never had a manual 75 but also never risked coasting down hill in any car as brake servo can quickly fail.

Quick question for club Guru's, in such circumstances, can you bump start a manual 75?
