Default Recorder milage lost 7,215 miles

Hi all,
last night i was adjusting the 4 figure number on position 20 of the OBD to get the MPG figure to tally with the brim to brim figure.

Today whilst out driving I noticed that the recorded miles had lost 7,215.

Yesterday it read 134,901 but today only 127,686.

Has anybody had this happen and how do I get it back to where it was?, and do you think adjusting the MPG on position 20 has any bearing on this strange happening?

Cheers, Pete.

Not very helpful, but I've never seen this reported, and have adjusted the calculation figure loads!

Try a battery off reset.

If you are really missing these 7000 miles, I can let you have 100,000 of mine if you want to come and collect them.

My 51 plate diesel has 227,000 miles on the clock and recorded a smokemeter reading at MOT of 0.19 m-1, the limit being 1.50 m-1.

Default Battery off reset

Hi, disconnected the battery today for 2 hours and when reconnected the mileage read out is still low and missing 7,215 miles.

It would be interesting to adjust the fiddle factor back to where it was and see if the odometer returns back as well.

I thought it worth checking, since I produced the instructions for setting the OBD correction factor for fuel consumption. My worry is that the OP has inadvertently found a back door into 'mileage adjustment'. Heaven forbid if that's so and it's now published on the Forum!
