Cool FOR SALE: 2003 Rover 75 CDTi Connoisseur***SOLD***

(UPDATED 28/02/20)REDUCED IN PRICE!

For sale, with much regret:
• (July) 2003 75 Cdti Connoisseur Tourer - 5 speed automatic with manual override, and Sport and Winter modes. NB: this is definitely a diesel - the DVLA MOT Check webpage has been incorrect until very recently.
• Mileage 119895
• Silver, black leather upholstery
• Usual Connoisseur spec incl. 6CD autochanger/Cassette Player/ radio, low-line Sat Nav, reversing sensors.
• FSH – maintained by former Rover dealer still with Rover technician on staff. The Service Record was not always stamped
by them, but I have all the invoices.
At least 40 mpg every day (extra urban/rural driving)
UPDATE 10/2/20: new exhaust fitted - rear section

CcI am just the 2nd owner of this car and I got it in 2006; it’s the longest period I’ve ever owned a car and it’s been my daily driver for most if this time. I can truly echo what so many have said about these cars’ luxury, comfort and practicality. It has been very reliable overall. Regretfully, due to retirement, illness and the need to get something smaller, I’m having to part with it and it’s much too good to scrap!

The metal bodywork is in very good condition overall, with no rust anywhere. It has had no accident damage during my ownership except for a minor “ding” to the nearside front wheel arch which caused no fracture to the paintwork, only a dent (professionally repaired). The interior also is in very good condition overall; for example, the rear seats have rarely been used as the car’s huge boot has been one of its major assets for me - and this has been always had protective covers on it. We are non-smokers and have had no dogs or other pets in the car. The car had a full valet in 2017, plus DiamondBrite protection, at which time the tired VRM plates were renewed.
Engine and transmission are showing no signs of wear which is not surprising as the average mileage since new is about 7,500.

Here’s a summary of notable info, esp. known 75-specific issues fixed (in bold):
• MOT/service done 18/7/19 (see below for advisories, though)
• New Battery
• New front brake discs/pads April, 2017.(105k miles). Rears done July 2016. (99k miles)
• Rear springs renewed 2018
• Tyres: F = Avon (2016) R = Nexen (2017). Plenty of tread left on both sets.
Fuel Tank strap replaced 2016 (old one rusted through)
• Front Suspension top struts replaced 2015
• In-tank fuel pump replaced under guarantee 2007

• User manuals, and Haynes, included.

Minor current faults
:
• Current MOT minor defects noted: front anti-roll bar joint dust covers severely deteriorated
• Current MOT advisories: front brake hoses have slight corrosion to ferrules
• Door mirrors’ heating no longer works (both mirrors had been replaced separately after knocks). A non-essential for me, so not fixed.
• Steering wheel audio controls u/s – but I always find it easier to use dashboard buttons anyway. Cruise control buttons still OK.
• CD player disconnected by audio specialist as found to be source of battery drain; tape and radio still working
• Low-line Sat Nav has NEVER functioned properly, despite technicians attempts to sort it. Thinks I’m in Luxembourg or somewhere! It’s Bronze-Age technology now anyway and Tom Tom etc much better.
• Plastic bumpers bear a number of inevitable dings/marks
• Spare wheel has a pot-hole-damaged rim but tyre fitters say it can still carry a tyre.
• Control panel display has lost a some of its “pixels” but still remains legible

Major fault:

• REQUIRES NEW ALTERNATOR. It was working fine until the car was not driven for some months this year due to my medical condition; when it was then started prior to being taken for its service/MOT, the battery warning light stayed on and it was later diagnosed as the alternator. Car is driveable but not too far……. Please PM me for any other information.

Price: NOW £550 OVNO - down from £850. Despite the car's low mileage and overall condition (Condition 2, according to Practical Classics guide), and the addition of a new exhaust, I sense that the cost of replacing the defective alternator may be putting people off so I've made what I feel is a fair allowance for this.

NB; I have been unsuccessful in uploading pics; can send them via normal email if required

Available in Crowborough, East Sussex.
