I have the same desire to 'say something' when I stand back to let an elderly person (or a younger one with a pushchair perhaps), through the shop door, and some 'g-t' behind me pushes past and tries to mow down the elderly/pushchair person. A bit of common courtesy costs nowt - but you'd think it was gold dust the way people don't use it.

What gets my goat is the ignorance of some people, if I stand back and let someone go first and they don't say anything I go after them and say thats okay!!!, they look at you, and I say that's okay you not saying thank you, being polite cost nothing????

On the other hand Rev - it could be that you and I have reached the 'grumpy old men' stage

Unfortunately common courtesy is a rare commodity now.

My shopping trip took longer than expected. Local "supermarket" has a limited choice of . . . . well just about everything so went to Tesco. They weren't letting anybody in! There had been a short local power cut and they were having bother getting the checkouts to reboot. Those in the shop at the time were filtering through the one working checkout. Decided to hang around for a while, opened up after about 30 mins or so. To top it off went to get cigs on the way out, shelves just about bare. Apparently the company that supplies Tesco with fags etc has gone bust.
