My Y reg 75 was one of those "can't give you anything for it mate" cars.

The chap I bought it off was told he had to get rid of it and get something more modern by his daughter.

He couldn't sell it while his wife was alive because she loved it so much. They were the second owners and had had it for more than 15 years.

As soon as the wife passed away the daughter stepped in telling him to sell it.

He couldn't get a trade in on it so his son was going to put it on eBay for him that week.

I then turn up to do a job at his house, never been there before, see this 75 all forlorn, covered with leaves in the corner, ousted by the new Passat on the drive.

I asked him who's it was and he said his and it was for sale.

How much I asked. £300 he said. Sold I said. Don't you want to take it for a test drive he said. Don't need to I said.

One look at its almost full service history and I knew she'd be a honey.

Just had a thought Rover has now been out of business for fifteen years. My personal preference would be a conni mark 1 anything from eighteen years to 23 years old with as many toys as possible. My preference would be diesel, due to legs not being as good as they were 22 years ago, I would need an automatic. Currently we have the spice tourer and my wife has a MG 75, or a RoverZT depending whither you look at the back or front.
I fully expect them both to still be on the road well into the thirties.
Now I think about what Uncle Borris and Aunty SNP would have me buy if I wanted a new car it would today be hybrid or fully electric.
Anybody want to take a guess on how much for the same spec of car. More importantly when would it go to that great car park in the sky. It is not going to last twenty or thirty years. How is this progress. And how much nasty stuff was produced making the new car and how much nasty stuff in disposing of the new car when it is done. My biggest question is how do we get rid of or recycle done batteries. Perhaps there will be electric space craft taking the rubbish and dumping it on the moon “Space 1999”

A cold and foggy north easterly wind has been getting at my joints today, reminding me that I am getting too old to be rolling around under cars. Therefore, very reluctantly, I think that I am going to prepare some photos and descriptions for the "Members Cars For Sale" section of the forum! Perhaps someone with more agility can look after the lovely old lady. I have enough on at present, looking after my 96 year old mum who has decided that she needs to redecorate her bungalow! (Which means that she will be the job foreman/woman)!................... Now, where did I put my camera!

Batteries are re-cycled all of the time and most of the battery can be re-cycled.---Very little waste.----

To the best of my knowledge there is no Lion battery recycling plant it the uk. The cells that are not recoverable are shipped to China. I only know this because I looked into the matter for a risk assessment on the Scottish governments smoke and heat alarms interlinking Act that means every Scottish house regardless of size or age will need a minimum of 5 detectors of different types either hard wired or Lion powered. This was to become law on 28th February this year but has been postponed for 12 months. The estimated cost for the first Five years after the implementation of this new law is 15 billion pounds producing 50 million Lion cells requiring to be disposed of. This is a recurring cost on the failure of test of each system which has to be carried out monthly.
Who is it that recycles lithium ion batteries cos I will gladly buy shares in the company can’t loose. With Governments making stupid acts like this. PS buy your gas boiler now cos in nine years you won’t be able to as UK heads to net zero. If you are my age you will get your nice new boiler free paid For by the government.

Now that is the car that makes Audi into a company that tells fibs. In the same way a the Citroen DS from the 60s does
Where is the Jensen now? The Garage just down the road from me used to have 3 interceptors and 2 FFs sadly no more.
