DEFRA and the vet should be held accountable for this, I hope they all get a large dose of Karma.

As much as his slaughter sickens me I believe they saw it as they couldn't give him preferential treatment because he was cute and cuddly.what about the thousands of cattle who are given no chance of a reprieve.I'm sad for all of them.

I've signed. There's a real problem with false positive tests, but no-one seems to be able to get past the 'set in stone' mindset of DEFRA and certain powerful vested interests. If this animal has no signs of TB, then it validates everything the poor owner was trying to explain. There should indeed be an independent autopsy. As to whether 'lessons will be learned', personally I'm not holding my breath. There was a strong case to properly investigate the animal while it was alive.

Geronimo's owner, like many livestock owners, was certain her animal had no contact with TB, so where did it come from? They have to find a vector, hence badgers. It may be the case that badgers are sometimes the problem, but if their test said the animal had TB, and the autopsy said it didn't, a serious re-think is needed about the testing protocols.
