Fixed a plastic hinge with Baking Soda and Superglue
Not Rover.
During the Bournemouth Air Festival I assist with a fundraising stand that ends with the break down and clearing of the stand and equipment. After the show last weekend the large airpot which carries the hot water for beverages was dropped and the plastic hinge for the top broke. My friends who run the stand announced the flask/airpot would be dumped. Up for a challenge I took it with me on Tuesday morning and phoned them on Wednesday evening telling them that I had fixed it, feeling quite chuffed. After watching a few videos on youtube I experimented. I gradually built up the breaks and the structure sprinkling baking soda onto the areas then clearing the excess before adding drops of superglue, waiting for it to go off and repeating the process. I found the whole structure could be built up with steady movements, eventually forming the structure again. There was minor filing required afterwards, and once completely dried, coloured the new areas in with felt tip pen. The new structure feels really firm and the hinge works a treat. (I hope you didn't find this boring!) |

Fix
Am impressed, hope you can find a fix for my broken clips on rear interior roof light, I have tried all day with various things but without success.

I prefer Q-bond it's an acrylic powder that comes in a kit with two types Grey for metals and Black for plastics.
Drop some of the supplied super glue on it and it sets within a couple of seconds. It can be then filed or sanded straight away Always have some in as it's very useful, you can even repair scuffs to alloys with it and it doesn't peel if you have a tyre fitted so long as you've prepped it properly beforehand Russ
