Who shall I vote for??

That has given me pause for thought, I answered the opposite to what I really think and it came up with:-

Labour 62%
Green 52%
LD 45%
Con 41%
BNP 14%
UKIP 12%

As a life long supporter of the Labour Party I’m somewhat in a bit of a quandary as when I first did the test truthfully it came up with BNP first, Conservative second, the trouble is I can’t agree with most of there polices!

Beth Din rulings are only applied to civil disputes and are resolved through discourse not the threat of violence, excommunication or shunning by your piers.
The rule of British law or indeed any countries law system is adhered to not confronted or dismissed.

This may shed a little further light on the main differences and why Beth Din has been a well respected and useful part of the Jewish communities. Arbitration is key.

Sharia is none of these things. Fear of retribution in it's most violent forms are the mainstay. If it were to be restricted by the Imams in a similar manner to Beth Din then that would be acceptable.

My view of religion is that it is only a tool (pretty much regardless of which religion) for controlling the many by the few. The probable only difference between the extremist Muslims and extremist Jews is that the Muslims have had a lot more opportunity to develop their ways. If the Jews had commanded as much territory for as long a time I feel sure they would look pretty similar. If God could command a father to kill his own son then men could easily use all sorts of barbaric measures to control people.

I very much agree with the old maxim, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

On a lighter note, an extract from your BBC News link:
