Imo I would steer clear of alcantara unless you want to shave it every 12 months. Looks really nice when new, tatty when getting old.

Found some alcantara ones I like more... just wondering how much effort it is to swap the front and rear?
Full seats, not just covers. |

My ZTT has Alcantara seats in and they are all in very good condition. The mileage is only 65k though. The drivers seat has no rips in the leather and there has never been a need to "shave " the Alcantara Ed |

Having just replaced the covers in mine i would say replacing the seats would be 100% easier than just the covers (saying that the covers were not that hard jusf fiddly)

I have the alcantara seats in my 75 as they were fitted from new. The alcantara holds extremely well through the corners; you barely move a mm in your seat under any cornering conditions. Add to that the firm support of the seat and the aesthetic and I think they are the best option.
As for shaving the seats, if they need it, it isn't really a big headache. It's just something extra to do for 15-20 minutes perhaps once a year when cleaning the car. I find an electric de-bobbler works best, combined with a manual disposable razor for the corners the de-bobbler won't reach. You can pick them up for a few pounds on ebay or in Wilkinsons and it really isn't that bothersome. It gives a longer lasting, quicker and better result than just using a couple of razors. |
