Default It is a small world

Despite its size it seems sometimes the world is a small place.
You go on holiday thousands of miles away and meet someone you know or who lives just down the road.

We moved 200 miles, the neighbours, the wife works for the local council of where we lived, lived on the estate of the telephone exchange I used to visit and the husband knows the manager of the football team my daughter played for.

I have just visited a friend of my dads in Southampton and he has a friend in the next village to us.

When I was driving trains there was an older driver, Tam, who had a really annoying, whiney voice, he was an authority on any subject you care to mention, you couldn't tell him anything, he'd just argue until you gave up.

One of the other drivers was on holiday in Spain, walking along the street and heard a familiar whiney voice, looked up and saw Tam in the distance coming towards him, dived into a shop to avoid him and spent the rest of his holiday looking over his shoulder

I thought I was being stalked by a colleague !!

On holiday one year in Menorca driving into the village where we were booked to stay and there's my colleague and his 'tribe' traipsing down to the beach.

Fast forward a year or so and we're staying in a place called "Bluestone" in West Wales and yep there he is with his tribe (plus he was on the sick with a nackered back and the place is an adventure centre, climbing, hiking etc!).

England-Scotland game at Wembley years ago. One of the BR diesel fitters phoned in sick only to be shown on BBC news skipping and jumping around on the platform at Kings Cross amongst other Scottish supporters

Shall we say his manager had words with him
