Default V6 fan working overtime?

The fan on my car seems to be coming on alot lately especially when it's been hot weather. It comes on everytime as soon as I stop at traffic lights or in traffic and the engine is just idling. It stays on for maybe a minute or so then goes off. The coolant level is at the max level and is being pumped around but there is air trapped in the system. Is this the normal operation of the fan or could it be due to the air being trapped? I know the v6's rarely suffer hgf but I don't want anything else going wrong if there is a problem

Ian

Get the air out of the system ! Any car can suffer HGF if the cooling system isn't operating at maximum efficiency.

A pound to a pinch of the other that if you do that, then your fan will revert to normal operation.

Don't leave it too long.

Been watching the temp on the obd and temp doesn't go above 100 degrees because the fan comes on and goes back off at 93 degrees. When I'm driving the temp only gets to around 88 degrees which I know is fine. It's just the amount of times the fan is coming on when idling that's bothering me

If you have the three speed fan the low speed will run continuously in this sort of weather, it's so quiet you would not normally notice it. it's possible the lowest speed has failed and what you are experiencing is the second speed engaging when you come to a halt. That's exactly the symptoms I had when my slow speed failed.

Don't use the aircon that much because I prefer to just have the windows open. I think the fan is working fine. Does it run at low speed when aircon is on?

Mine constantly comes on in traffic and at idle when I have the air con switched on. When its turned off the fan very rarely comes on if at all.

Yes.

With ignition on and demist button on the low speed should kick in.

Still say please get rid of the airlock !

I have been trying to get rid of it but really struggling to get it to move. I think I'm going to end up booking it in at the garage for Friday and let them do it
