KV6 Mongrel swap
Hello all,
I'm in need of quite a bit of advice. I have a 75 Club automatic with a seized KV6 engine. I sourced another KV6 from a breaker in Wales. It was said to be from a nice running manual ZT. I bought it but there are several differences - Inlet manifolds are different, front end engine mounting plate is different and spark plug suppressor caps are different. I know I have a KV6 here but am not sure which one. What have I bought. I am at the stage where the motor is separated from the bell housing. I have a gap of about 8 - 10mm between the two components but cannot separate them. It's been a very long time since I performed an engine swap and I have never done an automatic one. My questions then are: Have I missed something in separating the engine and box? Can I separate engine from box in position or do I need to remove engine and box together? If engine can come away from the box in place, do I need to remove the front mounting plate? Thanks for taking a look |
