Hk sub wiring
I've just acquired the Hk undershelf subwoofer. There are no wires on the sub but I have the 4 pin block from the amp in situ. Can anyone help with what wires to connect to what??

Could you expand a little, please?
The sub has a molex connection on it, I believe. You should be able to work out a pin out using a multimeter and an AA battery. Do you have an amp to run it? |

There are no wires or connectors on the sub at all. The amp and a redundant 4 pin connector, which looks like the sub plug, are there. It looks as though a sub had been fitted previous but then removed. The rest of the system, so I've been informed, is HK upgrade.

Can you post a picture? It's still not clear what you have?

Pics wont upload at the moment. The 4 pin connector plug from the amp .I assume would plug straight onto the wiring loom on the under shelf subwoofer. It has 4 grey wires each with a different colour stripe (black, brown, red and white). There is a speaker on each side of the sub which means 4 wires, (this loom is missing) that i figure would connect to the 4 wires on the connector plug. Basically need to know which of the 4 grey wires are the + and - for the speakers.

What I meant was, can you clearly say what you have?
The HK sub looks like this - http://s93.photobucket.com/user/newf...ewna5.jpg.html As you can see, moulded box, 2 speakers, wired into a 4 pin terminal. Do you have all of this, and need to know the pinout? Or are you after something else? Your latest post sounds like you have a scrap of wiring instead? I'm probably being slow, apologies. RAVE doesn't list a pin-out, but the connector is C0834. The connections are discussed in more detail here - http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=64985 There is a pinout of the amp connector in this thread that would allow you to work out the colours if you had the full loom - http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=64566 I think it would be easier with a meter and a battery, though. Meter will be able to tell you which wires connect to which speakers (although it's obvious visually) by checking the resistance, and an AA / AAA battery will push the cone out / in (I forgot which) when connected the right way round to + / -. |

I reckon it's:
Sub1 + Black/Grey - Brown/Grey Sub2 + Black/White - Brown/Red From the amp. But I could be wrong. |

Yes it is the moulded one in the picture. As per usual it seems that it is not going to be a simple plug and play job. Will have to get a meter and check power etc to all connectors. No doubt find it's not compatable with the head unit.

There is an amp mounted beneath the CD changer in the boot. Whether it is working is another thing. The joys of buying a car from a DIYer. Nothing done properly and bits missing.
