Default Ball joint dust covers

Hi, is it practical to part and refit the lower front ball joints, to replace the boots, without disconnecting track rod ends, drop links and slackening off the strut top fixings to help with alignment of the bottom ball joint.
I had everything apart just over a year ago to change both springs and plenty of copper anti-seize grease applied on refitting, so its only the alignment problem I'm concerned about, for example what is the best position to have the steering in.
